Feel The Bern
San Fernanado Valley

UX Interaction Design

Feel The Bern San Fernando Valley is a non-partisan social justice club—and it’s also where I first began honing my skills in web design and development starting in 2019. One of the very first sites I built using PHP, it marked a turning point in my journey as a developer. Since then, my understanding of UX and interaction design has grown significantly, and I knew this site deserved a full redesign that reflected everything I’ve learned. From visual clarity to streamlined navigation, I gave the site a modern overhaul focused on usability and engagement. From the back end administrators are able to add, edit, or delete - event posts, award posts, endorsement posts, news posts, gallery posts, store products, administrators, and manage membership including fees and dues. Want to check out the updated site? Just click the image above. Otherwise, keep reading to see how I approached the UX and interaction design in the relaunch.

The Feel The Bern SFV site has more pages then some of the websites I designed. With more web pages the site map helps to manage the pages by making it possible to keep in mind what pages are needed and how they are arranged.

Example wireframes - Once again I matched the paper wireframes with the digital wireframes and lined them up.

Prototype
Feel The Bern SFV: Lo Fi Prototype
The Feel The Bern SFV low fidelity prototype is the first opportunity to see that the functionality of the website allows users to navigate to all the web pages. To ensure that the website follows the site map, double checks that the site map was correctly designed, and that nothing was missed. It's the first chance to examine how the site will work and that it all functions according to plan.
Feel The Bern SFV first allowed for the opportunity to build and develop a website built with PHP code that also required using a database. I'm glad I had the chance to update it with all the new knowledge I obtained in UX design. The club has not only allowed me to design and develop the website, but has also been open to experimenting by trying new techniques and technologies.
